My aunt has just returned from the UK and brought back (among other things) some combed top and roving from Scottish Fibres.

Bitten Again By The Spinning Bug
I was off today and had no intention of anything other than reading an Ann Rule book and slothing around in my pyjamas drinking tea.

I'm Spinning!
No, not that kind of spinning. You couldn't possibly pay me enough to get onto a torture device cunningly disguised as an ordinary stationary bicycle for one minute, never mind a whole hour.

More Amarula Please
Some depraved criminal tried to steal the car. He only wrecked the lock but R900 later I know that if I ever find him I would have an uncontrollable urge to go to his house and destroy R900 of his property while screeching (in a demented way), "how do YOU like it when some complete stranger comes and wrecks your stuff?!"

Socks!
I've been on a serious sock-knitting jag lately. What can I say? They're like potato chips but without the calories...

Finished Socks... and a Hat
I've finished the socks, supertwist sock yarn from Nurturing Fibres , pattern is just plain vanilla sock. This colour is called King Protea. These socks are screaming Bronwen's name. Definitely her kind of colour, which means her birthday is sorted (along with a manicure and pedicure voucher).

More Fingerless Gloves
I've made two more pairs of fingerless gloves. Only one picture because I'm kind of sick of them by now. I did about eight pairs while staying in Vryheid.

Knitting Jag
I've finally finished the pink socks. Here's a picture, although the second sock is exactly the same as the first (or at least it is if you've done your knitting in a reasonably competent way and not like a hamster with ADD) so it's not like you're seeing anything new.

Garter Stitch Blues
Well, Gavin's hat is done. Just basic 2x2 rib, pattern from yarn harlot in her archives. Yarn is alpaca.

Bored
I've made progress on Gavin's hat. It is plain 2x2 rib and I'm about halfway to the decreases. The pattern is from Yarn Harlot and is found in her archives, December 2005 I think. The yarn is alpaca, bought at Wakkerstroom Fibre Fair.
I started to get a bit bored doing row after row of 2x2 rib, so I did what anyone else in my position would do. I cast on another project.
I know what it looks like. I have swapped boring, dreary 2x2 rib for (drumroll please...) thrilling, fantastic 1x1 rib. This will eventually become a sock, hopefully to be joined by a second sock. Yarn is African Expressions Joy and 3.25 mm dpn's.

Finished Objects
Well, I've managed to finish another two twirl scarves. The blue is colour Stormy Sea and the pink is Rustic Romance.
Handpaint Yarn pictures
I'm writing this having just finished nightshift, so don't be surprised if I'm tired and a bit weird.

The Knitter's Curiosity Cabinet
The Knitter's Curiosity Cabinet is the latest book I've gotten my hands on. It has twenty fantastic patterns based on vintage botanical drawings. There are ten botanical colour plates in this book, each one with two patterns inspired by it (one sock and one something else such as cowl, hat, fingerless gloves, etc).

Wakkerstroom Fibre Fair
So, these pictures are from the Wakkerstroom Natural Fibres and Handcrafts Fair. This was the fifth year that the fair has been held and it's heaven for anyone interested in natural fibres and in spinning, weaving, embroidery, basically any of the fibre arts.
