Socks!

I've been on a serious sock-knitting jag lately. What can I say? They're like potato chips but without the calories...

Carol is the woman who runs Penryn B&B in Dundee, it's a lovely place by the way. She saw me knitting Bronwen's socks and asked me to knit two pairs for her. She PAID me to knit socks! Now if I can only find enough people who want handknits to do this full time. Actually getting paid to knit. Sigh...

Alban's sock. Yes, that's still the first one. I had to get two balls of sock yarn because his feet are so big (seriously. 27cm long. I know anyone who knits is busy working out how many knitting hours that works out to using 2.5mm needles. Try about 26). Not to mention that one ball of yarn would have given him teeny little ankle socks which I think he would find rather undignified.

Mom, I know you love him and so do I but why did you have to marry a man with such big feet? And can you arrange a terrible lawnmower accident if I run out of wool while I'm still 5cm short? I'm making a plain pair and can go fancy with cables and whatnot if this pair fits and is comfortable. Be sure to tell him this is in the region of 20 000 stitches. Nurturing Fibres supertwist sock yarn, colour Stormy.

I stopped knitting his sock long enough to go to the NSA Gallery to see the exhibition they have on at the moment. It's worth a visit, really stunning photos of horses like the one below.

  1. No lawnmower accidents I am afraid.......we do not have a lawn mower. I might be able to arrange something with a chain saw, however....
